Dr Brenda Biggs is an Obstetrician who works in private Obstetrics at Mater Mothers’ Private Brisbane. Brenda delights in advising women through their pregnancy and birth experience as she has developed a special interest in antenatal education and counselling. Each face-to-face antenatal visit is an opportunity to discuss expectations and formulate plans. Brenda believes in tailoring care to the individual and that well-informed decision-making can enhance a positive birth experience.
Dr Biggs was curious about delivering babies after finding out that her great-grandmother was a midwife in Maryborough, Queensland in 1915. Brenda became fascinated with Obstetrics after attending births as a University of Queensland Medical Student in 1990. Brenda has been enriching her skills since 1994 in non-training, training and private specialist Obstetrics. Brenda has attended over 5000 births and been involved in many more pregnancies and continuation of care during the postpartum period.
Since 2003 Dr Biggs has chosen to work exclusively at Mater Mother’s Private Brisbane. Brenda feels that this hospital caters for all births, including the high risk and complicated that may need the co-located neonatal nursery and access to tertiary level consultations.
Dr Biggs is assisted in providing experienced, immediate care to women antenatally and during birth, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by sharing an on-call roster with five other like-minded female Obstetricians (River City Obstetric Group).
