Pregnancy Assessment Centre
The Pregnancy Assessment Centre at Mater Mothers’ is available for all pregnant women with any concerns about their pregnancy, regardless of gestation, and for women up to six weeks postpartum. The Pregnancy Assessment Centre is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
When a woman presents in labour, initial assessments are made by the midwife in Pregnancy Assessment Centre. Depending on the stage of labour women are transferred to Delivery Suite, to the Antenatal Ward or allowed to return home.
Private patients can speak to a midwife to inform them that they are coming to the hospital on 07 3163 8800.
Mater Mothers’ Parenting Support Centre
Mater Mothers’ Parenting Support Centre offers new parents assistance with any concerns about caring for a new baby.
Access to specialist doctors and a wide range of specialist allied health support is available. Lactation consultants are available to give practical advice on breastfeeding. Midwives and child health nurses can provide advice on settling baby. Maternal emotional wellbeing can be supported by psychology consultations.

Australian Breastfeeding Association provides a helpline for mothers to discuss any breastfeeding issues 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Child and Baby Health Clinics can provide parenting advice, growth and development assessments and immunisations.

Treatment of Perinatal Disorders at Belmont Private Hospital
Referral is required to access inpatient treatment for mental health issues. Mother and baby can be admitted to the unit for therapy and parenting assistance as required.
